Our adoption event held at The Marin Humane Society on August 2, 2008 was a great success!  Attendance was estimated at over 75 people and the following animals/birds from our participating groups found their forever homes:

Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue - 1 of the MHS birds.

Rattie Ratz Rescue - 2 rats

Cavy House - 5 guinea pigs

North Star Rescue - 1 guinea pig, 4 hamsters and 8 rats

10 Chuckers (birds similar to quail).  A man came to our event to adopt a bird and he learned about the 10 Chuckers that were available at MHS.  He took them to a friend who has appropriate housing for them.

Again I would like to thank The Marin Humane Society for hosting our adoption event with special appreciation to Suzanne, Keri and Carrie for advertising this event in so many places!  Thank you Suzanne for staying late Friday night and arriving early Saturday morning to help me set up and then your continued assistance throughout and after the event.  Also special appreciation to Donna and Cynthia both of whom helped out at our event AND each also adopted rats.  Many thanks to all of the participants and volunteers who made this event such a great success – North Star Rescue, Cavy House, SaveABunny, Rattie Ratz Rescue, Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue and of course The Marin Humane Society!

The Marin Humane Society has invited me to do this twice a year and the next one is already in the planning stages for early 2009.  Also, Marcy of SaveABunny and I are in the early planning stages of presenting an adoption event/local artist showcase.  Updates will be posted on my website www.BayAreaRats.com and also on www.SaveABunny.org as they become available.
