Bay Area Rats is a networking source which I started in memory of my first rat, Latkah, shown above. Bay Area Rats provides general care information about rats, rabbits and other animals and is a source for assisting with rehoming rats, rabbits and other animals. When I applied for my nonprofit status, I changed the name from Bay Area Rats to Animal Care and Adoption Network to incorporate all animals.
ANIMAL CARE AND ADOPTION NETWORK - Now a nonprofit!
Our ACAN organization was accepted June 2007 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. We continue to do what I have been doing under Bay Area Rats but I changed the name to clarify that we network to locate homes for and assist with all types of animals.
